A Culture of Care: Mindfulness and Mental Well-Being at Loomis Sayles

In May, we recognize Mental Health Awareness Month—a meaningful reminder that caring for the mind is just as important as caring for the body. At Loomis Sayles, this perspective is not only acknowledged but actively encouraged through programs that promote awareness and foster support across the firm.
In collaboration with this effort, Christine O’Shaughnessy, Founder and CEO of Mindful Presence, offers mindfulness training and executive coaching to Loomis Sayles employees in partnership with organizations such as Women at Work and LS Healthy Minds.
The mission of LS Healthy Minds is to build a culture of mental health well-being and foster a workplace that promotes and supports the mental health of all of our Loomis Sayles employees, their families, and their loved ones. The program strives to reduce mental health stigma and raise broader awareness by encouraging open and honest conversations throughout the firm while providing educational programs and resources that support various areas of mental health.
Christine’s mindfulness-based coaching and training help individuals better understand how their thoughts shape their experiences. Drawing on her former experience as Vice President and Senior Credit Analyst at Loomis Sayles, she brings a unique combination of corporate insight and mindfulness expertise. Her approach bridges the realities of fast-paced corporate environments with practical tools to build focus, clarity, and emotional intelligence.

“I’ve been working with Christine for almost a decade. Her coaching and guidance has made me a better leader every year. I encourage you to participate in her 3-month mentorship and coaching program as an individual or bring it to your organization.”
Her work focuses on developing the skills that underpin emotional intelligence, helping individuals manage stress, adapt to change, foster collaboration, and communicate with intention. In the workplace, this awareness has meaningful impact. By integrating mindfulness into leadership development, participants strengthen not only their own well-being, but also their ability to contribute positively to their teams and the broader organization.
Investing in mental well-being is an investment in how we work, lead, and support one another. This commitment reflects a core part of Loomis Sayles’ culture, built over a century and grounded in strong relationships, meaningful collaboration and respect for our colleagues and clients.

“Mental resilience begins when we notice a thought without immediately believing it or acting on it. We pause, observe, soften, and choose. This is how we move from reaction to response, from judgment to clarity, and from inner pressure to steadier leadership.”
