Find Your Path at Loomis Sayles

The mission of the Undergraduate Summer Internship Development (USID) Program is to offer broad access and exposure to a career path in financial services by creating a candidate pool of first-generation college students in the investment management industry.
For 10 weeks, approximately 20 interns gain hands-on experience working across investment and non-investment teams at Loomis Sayles while participating in a structured series of workshop that build the personal, professional and technical skills needed for success in the workforce.
“For first gen, internships are absolutely vital. I think that it is not necessarily having the connections and finding an easy path but it’s hard to aspire to something that you’re not able to visualize exactly what it is. The internship really allows interns to find a path and believe that they can in fact achieve it.”

Students are matched with an employee to support connecting experience and development to a potential career by sharing knowledge, experience, and career advice. Interns receive industry-specific professional and personal development aimed at providing knowledge and tools to advance in a corporate environment.
The program targets first-generation college students whose parents or caregivers do not have a four-year degree and who are rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors at the time of the program.

“The LS USID program introduced me to the investment management industry as an intern and opened the door to a professional career. More importantly, it introduced me to a welcoming and supportive culture that has made me feel valued throughout my journey at the firm.”
