Valor in Action: Honoring Service, Creating Opportunity

Loomis Sayles founded the Valor Employee Resource Group in 2022 to support and connect the firm’s military veterans, family members and military supporters through community engagement, education and other resources.
Work at the Firm Level
Matt Welch, CFA, Senior Credit Research Analyst & Business Manager, Captain, United States Marine Corps, Naval Aviator, serves as the co-chair of the Valor Steering Committee alongside Ray Buckley, Client Portfolio Analyst, Sergeant, United States Marine Corps, Force Reconnaissance. Together, they will build on Valor’s strong foundation, which has included community service, a speaker series and the Valor Internship Program. Valor internships combine work experience, technical skill building and professional development for college undergraduates. The program gives military veterans returning to school hands-on professional experience, helping them apply their leadership, discipline and technical skills in corporate and investment settings.
Community Partnerships
Valor maintains a longstanding partnership with Home Base, a national nonprofit that heals the invisible wounds of war for veterans, service members, military families and families of the fallen. Each year, Valor takes part in the Run to Home Base, a fundraising road race that begins and ends at Boston’s iconic Fenway Park. Valor also joins the organization each Memorial Day to plant more than 37,000 flags in the Boston Public Garden, an effort that honors every Massachusetts service member who has given their life in defense of our country since the Revolutionary War.
Welcoming 2026 Valor Intern Eric Dubetsky
This summer, we are delighted to welcome Eric Dubetsky to the firm as a Valor Intern. Eric previously served in the US Navy as an Aviation Machinist. He will complete a rotational internship, beginning in Credit Research with Matt Welch, CFA, Senior Credit Research Analyst & Business Manager and Jim Barr, CFA, Credit Research Senior Analyst then moving to Technology with Chris Dietz, Chief Technology Officer.
Loomis Sayles is proud to offer this program to support US veterans considering careers in the asset management industry.
